Skin Elasticity After Major Weight Loss

Dr. Patrick Domkowski answers the question, "will my skin retract after major weight loss?".
It is important for folks considering bariatric surgery to plan for the future. Depending on your personal goals, after you lose 100 to 150lbs, you are obviously going to be significantly healthier and feel better. However you are going to have a great deal of excessive skin and tissue throughout your body, but especially in the abdominal region and under your arms. Because of this I am often asked, “will my skin undergo retraction when I lose all this weight?”.
The answer is mostly “no”. While there may be a small amount, it is generally not a significant amount. The reality is that if you have lose that much weight there is going to be quite abit of extra skin and tissue.
